Not much is known about Garry, but he is shown to love sweets, especially macaroons. Garry is very much afraid of the living artworks that attack them, but he becomes brave to protect Ib from them. Ib cares very much for Garry, as she does not want him to get hurt or worse. Garry becomes very protective of Ib, even willing to risk his life for her. But over time, however, the two of them become very close. At first, Garry was wary of Ib, as he thought that she was one of the paintings that attacked him. He is a bit mysterious but gentle person who met Ib after she found him injured. Garry is a young man who appears to be in his early 20′s. It is unknown how Garry ended up trapped like Ib, but he is seen looking at a painting in the Real World before Ib becomes trapped in the Fabricated World. Garry: Garry is a young man who, like Ib, is trapped in the Fabricated World. They also appear to have refined tastes when it comes to art, as Guertena was a renowned artist. Ib’s parents appear to have a lot of money, as Ib and her parents are dressed quite nicely when attending the gallery. It appears that her mother is strict but loving towards Ib, while her father is quite doting towards Ib. Ib keeps a handkerchief that her mother gave her, and it is mentioned that her father loves giving her stuffed toy bunnies because bunnies are Ib’s favorite animal. After becoming trapped in the Fabricated World, Ib’s love for her parents is what drives her to escape and return to the Real World.
Though they do not appear often in the game, Ib does mention them throughout the game. Parents: In the beginning of the game, Ib goes to the Guertena Art Gallery with her parents. If Ib returns to the Real World without Garry or Mary, she will forget whoever was left behind in the Fabricated World, as they have now been erased from the Real World. Ib either escapes the Fabricated World with either Garry or Mary, or dies in the Fabricated World and becomes a new painting in the gallery. Ib’s fate depends on the game’s many endings. She cannot read certain words in the gallery, doesn’t understand what is going on around her, and sometimes does not realize that she is in danger. Ib is shown to also be a bit innocent and naive…though this is due to her being a child.
Ib also feels guilty if she leaves Mary behind in the Fabricated World, since Mary was just lonely and wanted a friend. Ib does become scared of the living paintings and Mary. If Ib cannot restore Garry’s sanity, she becomes filled with despair. Ib does have negative feelings and emotions. Deep down, Ib is quite emotional and shows her kindness and compassion through her actions, such as hugging Garry or healing him when he is hurt. Ib also cares about Mary, even after discovering her deceit. Ib cares very much for Garry, as she does not like seeing him hurt and feels safe around him. When trapped in the Fabricated World, Ib’s love for her parents is what motivates her to return to the Real World. Ib is shown to actually be a sweet girl who cares about her friends and family. For example: The paintings coming to life and trying to kill her, or horrifying hallucinations. Ib is a bit reserved and has a mental immunity to things that would normally cause a person great trauma. Though what she does depends on the player…Ib is, in fact, often emotionless but does react normally sometimes. Ib is a child whose personality and decisions depend of the player of the game. Ib tries to find a way to return to the Real World, and even meets a young man named Garry, who is also trapped in the Fabricated World like Ib. Ib finds a red rose that represents her life, and will die if all of her rose’s petals are torn off. Ib is a 9 year old girl who, while visiting an art exhibit with her parents, gets trapped in a world where the paintings and artwork from the exhibit are alive and dangerous: The Fabricated World. Ib is the main protagonist and titular character of the rpg horror game, Ib.
